Scripture of the Week:
"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. "
Matthew 5:6
1) Look into the analogy Jesus might be giving between physical hunger and thirst, and spiritual hunger and thirst.
2) Pray to obtain it.
3) Fast once this week to experience what it is like to have hunger and thirst, and meditate on the spiritual aspects of it.
4) Look into how this might relate to other examples Jesus gave about being, "the bread of life" and "The water, that if we dirnk from it we will not ever have thirst."

I think there are many examples of hunger and thirsting after righteousness in the bible. The Old Testament started with the bread coming down from heaven (Manna). Later Jesus compared himself to the true bread coming down from heaven. Jesus said in John 6, " 31Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. "
The scriptures are literally filled with examples of physical hunger and thirst and tying that back to relate to a higher plan of spiritual eating and drinking. Jesus summed it up greatly be saying it to the samaritan woman at the well drawing water when said if you drink the water in the well you will thirst again, but if you drink of the water Jesus has you won't thirst. In other words you will always be filled if you hunger and thirst after righteousness.
John 6:35
35And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
This just came to me. I hope it helps someone or you can relate. I think being in a state of hunger and thirst after righteousness, I believe is something I have to deal with daily.
It seems to me that there are 2 sides of me. One that wants to live a life that God wants, and to follow the example of Jesus. The only problem I have is the other part of me keeps messing up if you will, and keeps sinning. However, the desire is constantly there, and I know I can't do it. It's like my soul is constantly at odds with my other state. I am in a state of constant missing the mark. If I were to compare it to something, it's like being contantly hungry or thirsty.
Somehow, I have to find a way to get to the point where I can drink from the water Jesus talked about, where at some point in progressing spiritually we must come to a point where we thirst and hunger no more.
I am definitely not there yet, but if any one has experienced this, please post and let me know.
